Time to Just Be

I sit alone by the sea
in the early morning chill.
Clouds and forest reflect
in shimmering water.
Short-billed gulls dive for fish,
elegant wings outstretched.
Sea otters, floating on their backs,
crunch mussel shells.
Eagles, perched atop spruce trees,
exchange staccato calls.
River otters, sleek and wet,
scamper up the shore.
Ravens, wings whooshing in air,
fly overhead.
A lone mink explores the shallows,
looking for food.
Fish jump, land with a plop,
escaping unseen predators.
A silent observer,
I take time to just be.
